Purpose of the Position:
Promote Student-Athletes to the community and greater community Foster a student first attitude with coaches, athletes, and all key stakeholders Implement a study table program to assist student-athletes with academic achievement Classified as Confidential Employee:
Functional responsibilities or knowledge in connections with the issues involved in dealings between the school corporation and its employees require strict adherence to confidentiality Minimum Requirements:

Valid Teaching License Head Varsity Coaching Experience Strong organizational and leadership skills Knowledge of school law Excellent communication skills both oral and written Essential Functions of the Position:
The following functions have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.
Supervise and direct all interscholastic athletic programs Supervise and assist all coaches Recommend candidates for all coaching positions Assist in the promotion of good athletic relationships in the community Help supervise crowd control at ECA's Coordinate the supervision of all home athletic events Coordinate the travel arrangements for all away events Evaluate all athletic coaches and cheerleader sponsors Be responsible for the scheduling of all contests Schedule and contract all officials for home athletic events Conduct an annual coaches meeting Ensure that meetings are held by coaches for each sport season Ensure awards nights are held and/or awards are handed out for each sport season Order or approve orders for all athletic supplies and equipment Ensure organization and maintenance of uniform storage rooms by coaches Attend monthly Booster Club Meetings (as needed) Schedule all practices for interscholastic athletic programs Maintain the school weight room Prepare IHSAA entry lists Ensure medical kits for each team Ensure a file of athletic physicals packets and grade eligibility of all student-athletes Prepare all purchase orders connected with the Athletic Department Serve as the principal in the absence of the administration Attend School Board meetings (as requested) Work with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to determine needs for athletic facilities Secondary Functions of the Position:
The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
Knowledge of:
IHSAA policies and guidelines Policies, procedures and functions of Wa-Nee Community Schools Board of Trustees and the Indiana Department of Education Applicable software and applications Ability to:
Plan, organize, and schedule priorities Use independent judgment and initiative in making sound decisions and in developing solutions to problems Discreetly handle confidential and politically sensitive matters Make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures Tactfully and courteously respond to requests and inquiries/complaints from the general public and staff Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community Equipment Used:
